Grammys Shine In Ratings
The Grammy Awards were back in the spotlight last week as 25.87 million viewers tuned in to CBS's Sunday-night telecast, up 35 percent from last year, when the telecast attracted 19 million, according to Nielsen Research. The awards telecast edged out Fox's American Idol, which drew 25.71 million on Wednesday night and 24.45 million on Tuesday. NBC placed only one show in the top 20 -- The Biggest Loser , which came in at No. 18 with 9.7 million viewers, but the network's nightly newscast with Brian Williams averaged more viewers, 10.1 million for the week, as it drew a 6.6 rating and a 12 share. All of the evening newscasts continued to beat their averages, with ABC's World News with Diane Sawyer pulling in 8.6 million viewers (5.7/10) and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, 6.8 million viewers (4.5/8).
