Grammy Winner El Debarge Arrested For Drug Possession
Narcotics were reportedly discovered in an area where the singer had been standing, according to Norma Eisenman, spokeswoman for the Lapd. DeBarge's attorney, Spencer Vodnoy told reporters that he was sceptical about the charge, as he feels it was unlikely that El was selling the drugs, given his known struggles with drugs misuse. Vodnoy went on to say "The DeBarge family is very close knit and have had their struggles with substance abuse. They will do what they always have done, which is to support their sibling through this." The man that was with him at the time of arrest, Curtis Freeman, was arrested on suspicion of attempted drug possession.
El DeBarge is best known for the song 'Rhythm of the Night,' performed by his family's group Debarge, in the mid 1980s. The singer, now 50, also had a solo career and is known for his distinctive falsetto. El DeBarge has fathered eleven children and has been arrested a number of times for possession of drugs since 2001, when he was picked up for possession of cocaine.| Comment on this article |
