Katy Perry - Grammy Stars Wore Jewellery Made By Young Cancer Patients

Jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz visited paediatric cancer patients at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to teach them how to design pieces as a form of art therapy.

Eight-year-old Arabelle created a flower ring for Perry, which the pop star wore to a Grammys afterparty, while Cyrus' bracelet and earrings were made by a little girl named Sammi, whose sister died of liver cancer.

A young patient named Jaimin was behind Swift's elegant diamond-and-amethyst bracelet, and Schwartz reveals customers have begun requesting the design at upmarket New York City department store Bergdorf Goodman.

Schwartz tells People.com, "Jaimin started making jewellery before he got sick. He came prepared with all the jewellery making tools. He wanted diamonds to sparkle because Taylor sparkles."

R&B superstar Beyonce has also posed wearing blue gems made for her by 12-year-old Jozlyn, who used the colour in honour of the singer's daughter Blue Ivy.

Schwartz adds, "There was a lot of thought put into that. Beyonce couldn't have been more touched. She's the biggest star in the world to her... and (Jozlyn) was beyond excited to find out she wore her jewellery."
