Gossip Website To Become A Tv Show
TMZ.com, the website that first provided details of Mel Gibson's arrest and his subsequent anti-Semitic outburst, may be rewarded with a television show of its own, according to reports surfacing on Internet gossip sites Wednesday. The site, which went online only nine months ago, is a joint venture of AOL and Warner Bros.' Telepictures Productions, and is overseen by Harvey Levin, who created, produced and appeared on the now defunct syndicated series Celebrity Justice. In an interview with the online edition of Newsweek magazine, Levin said that at first "I said no to this job. ... I'm a TV guy and I said, 'I'm not going to the Internet.' Then I realized that if you do it as a real news organization and you can publish on demand, you can marry text and photos and interactivity."
