Gospel singer David Peaston has died after a lengthy battle with diabetes that cost him both his legs.

The brother of Fontella Bass, Peaston was 54 when he passed away in Missouri on Wednesday (01Feb12).

A former teacher, Peaston found fame as Gladys Knight's support act and he became a regular on Showtime at the Apollo.
