Gorillaz - Gorillaz New Album Created Entirely On Ipad Apps
Gorillaz, the musical project of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, have returned with their fifth studio album. Gorillaz new record 'The Fall' has been created entirely on 'iPad' apps and was recorded in hotels and venue's during the band's North American tour last autumn, reports the UK's Independent newspaper.
Produced by the band and Stephen Sedgwick, the album features familiar vocals from Blur front-man Albarn, but also contains a guest appearance from Bobby Womack. Following up last year's acclaimed 'Plastic Beach', 'The Fall' was initially made available for download in December but hits shelves in physical format today (19th April 2011). A limited edition vinyl version was released for 'Record Store Day' on Saturday (16th April 2011). Speaking about the album back in December 2010, Albarn told Nme, "Ive made it on an iPad - I hope I'll be making the first record on an iPad. I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I've made a completely different kind of record". Early reviews of the record have generally been positive, with Rolling Stone noting, "Recorded on tour, on an iPad, this low-key album is the sound of Damon Albarn blowing trees and tweaking apps as the American outback rolls by his bus window".
Gorillaz have reportedly sold over 23 million records worldwide. In total they have been nominated for a Grammy Award, three Mtv European Music Awards and three Q awards.
