Japanese GODZILLA composer Akira Ifukube died of multiple organ failure on Wednesday (08FEB06). He was 91.
Ifukube is best known for writing the theme music for the original 1954 Godzilla movie - and his composition was used in numerous subsequent films about the giant reptile.
Ifukube went on to be president of the Tokyo College of Music and was awarded a Person of Cultural Merit award - one of Japan's highest honours - in 2003.
