Godard Sends Apologies For Cannes Absence

French filmmaker JEAN-LUC GODARD has apologised to fans after pulling out of an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Monday (17May10) at the last minute.
The reclusive director was due to attend a screening and press conference for his latest project, Film Socialism, but scrapped his plans "following problems of a Greek type".
The 79 year old failed to elaborate on his excuse for the no show, but left fans even more confused by adding, "I will go until death with the festival but I will not take a step more."
Film Socialism is Godard's first work to be screened at Cannes since 2004's Notre Musique.
