Glen Campbell - Glen Campbell Axes Shows Down Under Due To Alzheimer's Decline

Retiring country veteran Glen Campbell has cancelled his tour dates in New Zealand and Australia next month (Aug12) due to his ailing health.
The Wichita Lineman singer, who went public with his Alzheimer's disease diagnosis last year (11), has been playing for fans on a farewell tour, but doctors have advised him travelling Down Under for his scheduled appearances alongside Kenny Rogers may be too much of a strain.
Campbell has reached out to fans about the cancellations, admitting he is "very disappointed" to let them down.
A statement from the promoter reads, "(We) regret to advise that Glen Campbell is no longer able to come to New Zealand and Australia to tour in August as the support for fellow Country Superstar, Kenny Rogers.
"Glen apologises and is very disappointed that he is unable to perform for his New Zealand and Australian fans one last time on what would have been his farewell visit and last international dates on his The Goodbye Tour.
"However, due to a decline in his Alzheimers condition his medical specialists have advised that the long international flight from Los Angeles would be detrimental to his health.
"No one had anticipated the travel complication or impact on coming to our distant locations. The promoters sincerely apologise for this inconvenience but want to assure ticket buyers that they are still in for a great show."
