Glasvegas - Glasvegas Cut Festival Set Short Over Bottle Attack

Scottish rockers Glasvegas were forced to cut short their set at Britain's V Festival on Saturday night (20Aug11) after rowdy fans pelted them with bottles.
The group was on stage at the Hylands Park event in Chelmsford as one of the headliners on the Arena Stage, which features a dance-heavy line-up. However, one reveller took exception to their performance, and pelted them with several missiles.
The set was stopped after four songs, before the band attempted to restart the show - but they decided to leave early after they were bombarded with objects again.
And the band's management has insisted they had no choice but to scrap the gig as they were concerned for the crowd's health and safety following the tragedy at Belgium's Pukkelpop festival earlier this month (Aug11), at which several people died when a stage collapsed during a storm.
A statement from the group says, "It's an honour for Glasvegas to play in front of any crowd. They performed at Pukkelpop before the storm blew in and we were reminded first hand how important safety of a crowd and band are. The kids that come along to the festivals are passionate about their music - they've saved and sacrificed for months to pay for tickets and want to have an amazing weekend.
"The line up of the Arena Stage is very different from 'rock n' roll', but it really doesn't what matter what genre. Glasvegas respect this and will always give the crowd 100%. All we want is for everyone, including the band, to have a good time and go home safely."
