June is a big month for music: the nation’s favourite music festival kicks off, and tracks that were released earlier in the year start to push the apex of what they can achieve. Sure, that second point was a shameless link to the Daft Punk story, but what are you going to do? Phone the entertainment news police?

The Rolling StonesThe Rolling Stones will play Glasto for the first time

Some welcome news from Glastonbury - this year has seen two welcome records broken: the highest attendance yet, and the least amount of crimes committed. More than 100,000 people were privy to a beautiful sunrise this morning as they woke up on Worthy Farm – they’ll get dirtier and poorer as they consume narcotics and defecate in little boxes over the next few days. Sorry, a record number of people will get dirtier and poorer as they consume narcotics and defecate in little boxes over the next few days.

More people usually means more crime: that’s maths. But this year’s Glasto contravenes that fool proof logic. Festival crime was at a record low, with 40 crimes reported to police, of which 22 were tent thefts. There were also only 24 drug offences, 12 of which were for possession. Another 75,000 people will be slowly wobbling towards the farm, carrying crates of beer and their grandfathers’ old tents – it’s a shame really, they saw heroic feats in WWII, now they’ll see the most debauched activity known to man. Festival going man, that is.

Daft PunkDaft Punk are back with vengeance

In other news, Daft Punk have become the first band to sell 1 million records with their summer hit, Get Lucky. Pharrell Williams, who provides the vocals on the funky number, is set to make it 2 million as he features on Robin Thicke's catchy-cum-dangerously sexist tune Blurred Lines. It's selling fast and is already at 800k.
