Veteran rock wildman Ginger Baker threatened to attack a British Film Institute (Bfi) official in a bust-up over smoking at a screening of a new documentary about the star.

The former Cream drummer is the subject of Jay Bulger's Beware Of Mr Baker, which examines the rocker's lengthy career and his notorious hellraising exploits.

And Baker rolled back the years by indulging in some rock 'n' roll behaviour when the documentary was unveiled at the Bfi London Film Festival last month (Oct12).

Bulger tells Uncut magazine, "He tried to set off the alarm in the green room. He was refusing to stop smoking, and then he threatened to hit the head of the Bfi over the head with a bottle. And the guy was taking it seriously. I had to take him aside and say, 'Physical threats are just par for the course, man. Relax.'"
