Gina Carano is rumoured to play female superhero 'Wonder Women', hopefully this is true!
Gina Carano only seems to perfect to play the role of DC Comic's 'Wonder Women'.
A professional mixed martial arts fighter to play a female superhero is the main talk circulating the rumour mill as of late, but will she get the role?
Carano has a new film coming out in 2014 called 'In The Blood' and she plays a wife whose husband goes missing during their honeymoon to the Caribbean. The plot follows Carano's search for her missing love as she discovers a conspiracy behind his disappearance.
Kevin Kasha, EVP of Anchor Bay Entertainment acquisitions and co-productions, told Screen Daily, "The first time I saw Gina Carano fight with Pro Elite, I knew I had to make a movie with her,"
He added "In The Blood is the perfect film for Gina and we at Anchor Bay Films are proud to be releasing it".
The upcoming movie is scheduled for a limited release so it will be difficult to judge Gina's box office appeal which is crucial in casting roles for superhero's such as 'Wonder Women'.
However, her transition from MMA fighting to the big screen has been a successful venture so far. The 31 year-old has starred in Steven Spielberg's thriller, 'Haywire', the box office sensation 'Fast & Furious 6' alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and now John Stockwell's 'In The Blood'.
Carano is also set to star in a female version of 'The Expendables' with producer Adi Shanker saying "I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of 'The Expendables' without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba".
The women, who used to beat people up for a living, is meant to play the role of a badass female superhero. She is most likely to be the toughest chick in Hollywood.
Carano has even spoke about the role in a recent interview with Comingsoon.net where she calls 'Wonder Women' "the ultimate superhero for a woman".
"No matter what, no matter who ends up being Wonder Woman someday, I just hope it's something that is done correctly. I know it's there and that it could definitely be done correctly. It's just a matter of getting the right people and having the right vision come together. A director and producer and writer have to see the beauty in it and make it real" she added.
With the huge success of comic-book superhero's on the big screen it is only a matter of time before 'Wonder Women' joins the list and it is obvious that Gina Carano is the perfect female action star.
