Giles Deacon - Giles Deacon 'Proud' Of Ungaro Stint

Giles Deacon is "very proud" of his work at Emanuel Ungaro.

The designer left the French fashion house earlier this week, as they had "mutually decided" their collaboration should come to an end, but he has praised the efforts of his team for the work they put in alongside him.

He told Vogue.co.uk: "I am very proud of the work that I - and my team - did at Ungaro, and it was a pleasure to work in Monsieur Ungaro's studio and with members of his actual atelier."

He added that he now plans to expand his Giles brand, and unveiling his forthcoming spring/summer collection.

He added: "I am going to concentrate on the global development of the Giles brand with some exciting one-off projects in the pipeline for next year - and I'm really excited about presenting the Giles spring/summer 2012 collection on Monday evening."

A successor has yet to be named at Ungaro, but they will be the sixth in as many years to hold the post, following Giambattista Valli, Vincent Darre, Peter Dundas, Esteban Cortazar and Estrella Archs.

CEO of Emanuel Ungaro, Jeffry M. Aronsson, said: "Emanuel Ungaro embodies a very rich and distinct DNA which the company will deliver with a modern spirit.

"The creative process for executing our strategy is largely in place and I will comment on this further at the appropriate time."
