Gibson's Arresting Officer Sues Officials For Discrimination

The traffic cop who arrested Mel Gibson for drink driving in 2006 is suing the County of Los Angeles for discrimination and retaliation.

Sheriff's Deputy James Mee claims he was "unjustly denied" a promotion following the Gibson scandal and became the victim of "religious discrimination", according to TMZ.com.

Gibson famously made anti-Semitic comments directed at the Jewish officer during his arrest in Malibu, California.

In his suit, Mee claims videotape involving the arrest of Gibson was erased and he was instructed to rewrite his report, deleting the religious slurs made by Gibson, a friend of then Sheriff Lee Baca.

Mee has denied reports he was the source of the leak to the website, which broke the news of the actor/director's arrest and outburst.

In the suit, he claims he was unmercifully interrogated and received a negative job performance report following the incident. He insists it was all the result of religious discrimination.
