Gibb Fights For Songwriters In Royalty Battle
The commission - the executive arm of the European Union - is currently investigating the collection of royalties, with the intention of establishing a new continent-wide system.
But musicians are concerned that music websites will be able to negotiate lower fees to distribute songs across all of Europe, leaving songwriters and performers worse off.
Speaking on behalf of the European Composer and Songwriter Alliance, Gibb says, "On a fundamental scale it's a human right that someone who writes a piece of work should have control of it."
