Giada De Laurentiis Legendary Grandfather Dino Dies Aged 91
GIADA DE LAURENTIIS' legendary grandfather DINO DE LAURENTIIS has died aged 91. The Hollywood producer, most famous for working on the 1976 movie 'King Kong', passed away in Los Angeles where he lived with his third wife, Martha, reports Bloomberg.
De Laurentiis had a long and distinguished career in the film industry, producing more than 600 films, and essentially making an international superstar of ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER after producing the actor's 'Conan' movies. Throughout his career he worked with the likes of AL PACINO, FEDERICO FELLINI, and AUDREY HEPBURN and gained much critical acclaim for his films 'La Strada' and 'Nights of Cabiria', both of which won ACADEMY AWARDS. In 2001, the producer was honoured for his achievements in film with the 'Irving Thalberg Memorial Award', and upon receiving the accolade he said, "On three continents, in diverse cultures, through happy moments, not-so-happy moments, and moments as marvelous as this one, I've had the privilege of working with the cinema's greatest masters." De Laurentiis continued to produce films in the latter years of his life, most notably the 2001 horror flick 'Hannibal'.
The producer is survived by his wife Martha, their two children, and his four children from his first marriage to SILVANA MANGANO.
