My Chemical Romance - Gerard Way Writes To Fans After My Chemical Romance Split
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has written an emotional letter to fans in the aftermath of the band's split, insisting the group is "done, but can never die".
The rockers announced the news in a statement over the weekend (23-24Mar13), revealing they have decided to part ways after 12 years together, and Way has now addressed fans himself.
He has written a long letter about the split and posted it on his Twitter.com page, insisting fans should not try to assign blame for the break-up because "there was no divorce, argument, failure, accident, villain, or knife in the back that caused this... This was no one's fault."
Way reveals the musicians decided long ago they would walk away from the band when they felt the time was right.
He adds, "When it's time, we stop... Many a band have waited for external confirmation that it is time to hang it up, via ticket sales, chart positioning, boos and bottles of urine (being thrown on stage)... (But) you should know it in your being, if you listen to the truth inside you. And voice inside (us) became louder than the music."
Way goes on to conclude: "In closing, I want to thank every single fan... I feel love for you, for our crew, our team, and for every single human being I have shared the band and stage with... Since I am bad with goodbyes. I refuse to let this be one. But I will leave you with one last thing - My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too."
