Gerard Butler - Gerard Butler To Check Out Of Rehab?
Gerard Butler is in rehab. The Scottish actor booked in to the Betty Ford clinic to be treated for substance abuse, reports TMZ. Butler checked into rehab to quash a dependency on prescription medication.
The website says that the MAChine Gun Preacher star's problems began when he had finished shooting historical epic 300 back in 2006. To add to his painful problems, while shooting of Men and Mavericks in 2011, Butler was involved in a surfing accident when he thrown off his surfboard and held underwater for a couple of minutes.
In an interview with MoviesOnline back when 300 was released in 2006, Butler said that it was difficult to get back to normal following filming: '.You finish filming and one, it's the whole routine changes and suddenly you don't have to do what you did any more and it's kind of weird. You feel a little lost and you don't have to hold yourself the same way physically. .There's definitely a period of adjustment and physical pain, because I stopped training and in actual fact that's probably the worst thing I could've done.'
Speaking about his surfing accident, he admitted to Irish chat show host Graham Norton in January 2012: 'It was a pretty close call... [The waves] just took me and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy.'
TMZ reports that Butler checked into the Betty Ford clinic - a rehab centre that is known for their celebrity patients - three weeks ago but is expected to leave today. Of Men and Mavericks will be released in October 2012 and is about a surfer with dreams of riding the North California breaks, which is known as Mavericks. The film also stars Elisabeth Shue and Jonny Weston.
