George Michael's Brush With Death: "I Woke Up A Feeble Old Man"
George's latest single, 'White Light' deals with his near-death experience and he explained to Evans that it has taken him a long while to come to terms with what happened to him and also to begin to feel settled again. "When something like that happens in such a random fashion, I think it takes a while to think that life is safe again." It took the 48 year old a long time to recover properly; he explained "I literally had to learn to walk again and weird stuff, because when they keep you sedated for that long your muscles literally atrophy at an incredible rate. And I just woke up like this feeble old man."
Michael was so grateful to the medical staff who cared for him that he said he would donate 1,000 tickets to London's nurses and doctors. In his interview, for the Bbc, he also confirmed that he was scheduled to perform at the Olympic closing ceremony in August.
