George Michael: 'Show For My Doctors Is Great Honour'
The Careless Whisper hitmaker cut short a European tour in November (11) after he fell ill with severe pneumonia in Vienna, Austria and he spent a month in intensive care at the city's General Hospital.
He headed back to Vienna on Tuesday to play a special gig for the doctors and nurses who looked after him - and he was full of praise for the professionals throughout the concert.
Michael told the crowd, "I'd like to take the opportunity to say that there are a number of people without whom none of us would be here tonight.
"This is one of the greatest honours of my life, to sing to the men and women who saved my life."
The singer also took requests from the audience and performed tracks including Nina Simone's Feeling Good and My Baby Just Cares For Me, as well as songs by Rihanna, Rufus Wainwright and Sting's Roxanne - and his own back catalogue.
Michael ended the gig with his new single White Light, which he wrote about his health battle, and said, "One last treat for you all before we go. We could not go without singing this song. Let's hear it for the people who saved my life."
