George Lucas - George Lucas To Cast Dead Film Stars In New Movies?
GEORGE LUCAS, the American film mogul and STAR WARS creator, is looking to take his passion for special effects and CGI one step further by casting dead film stars alongside Hollywood's current crop of actors and actresses, according to his former collaborator MEL SMITH.
66-year-old Lucas has a tendency to digitally enhance his own movies after their release, and he's currently working his way through the STAR WARS franchise, but in an interview with the UK's Daily Mail, Smith says the director has bigger ideas. He says Lucas has "been buying up the film rights to dead movie stars in the hope of using computer trickery to put them all together in a movie, so you'd have Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck appear alongside today's stars" However, he was less than complimentary to Lucas later in the interview, saying the director's "obsession" with CGI resulted in the last two STAR WARS movies being "ghastly".
A similar concept to the 'cross-era' technology has been trialled in the forthcoming 'Tron' movie, in which 61-year-old actor JEFF BRIDGES appears alongside his much younger self.
