George Bush's Head In 'Game Of Thrones': Did You Spot It?
Hbo has apologized for featuring the decapitated head of George W Bush during a recent episode of their hit drama 'Game of Thrones'. The premium cable network says it has halted future shipments of its DVDs, and will edit the scene in question for future telecasts.
The furore first began when one of the show's runners alerted fans to the severed head during the episode 10 commentary, saying, "The last head on the left is George Bush.George Bush's head appears in a couple beheading scenes. It's not a choice; it's not a political statement. It's just, we had to use what heads we had around". Predictably, those involved with the Republican party slammed the decision to feature the former President in such a manner, and Hbo swiftly apologized in a statement on Thursday (June 14, 2012), saying, "We were deeply dismayed to see this, and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series, who apologized immediately for this careless mistake".
'Game of Thrones' has been one of the biggest success stories on American television in recent years. The medieval fantasy, created by David Benioff and D.B Weiss, has picked up multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. The second series of the show premiered on April 1, 2012. Nine days later, it was picked up for a third season.
