Gene Simmons Labels Rihanna "Fake" As Kiss And Motley Crue Hit The Road

Gene Simmons was in typically rambunctious mood as he and the rest of Kiss got together with Motley Crue to announce a co-tour between them, titled simply 'The Tour'. The veteran metaller even found time to take pot shots at Rihanna and other young pop stars, labelling them as "fake."

The ever quotable Simmons was at a press conference revealing the unholy partnership, reports Rolling Stone, when he fired out "We're sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them. No fake bulls**t. Leave that to the Rihanna, Smhianna and anyone who ends their name with an 'A.'"

Indeed, bringing back "real rock & roll" seemed to be the theme of conversation during the event, Simmons band mate Paul Stanley commenting "I want people to leave and go, so this is what rock & roll is. It's dangerous, it's loose, it's not perfect. So whatever pop artist you see dancing around on a stage lip synching, that's a con game and that's not a live concert. If you want karaoke, go to a karaoke bar." The Crue's Nikki Sixx meanwhile said "What I would like to see people take away from it is that if you actually practice your instrument and practice writing songs and put a hundred percent into your show and every aspect of it, from your clothes to your lyrics, if your singers sing, then this is what happens - you have a long career and you get to go out and do the real deal," he told us. "It's real rock & roll." The tour starts in July.
