Some Twitter users had suggested Tweed could be seen wearing an engagement ring during the final 'couch interviews', but speaking on her Twitter page the model told followers, "And to everyone who thinks they know - I Am Not wearing an engagement ring in the couch interviews. Just an every day ring. Sorry". Tweeting regularly throughout the episode, Gene echoed the comments, telling fans, "Shannon and I work on our relationship every day. One day at a time. Thanks for watching. When we figure out our lives, you will know".

The couple, who have been relationship for over 20 years, have two children together - Nick and Sophie. Simmons was previously romantically involved with singers Cher and DIANA ROSS.
