Gary Numan To Play Mighty Boosh Festival
The BBC comedy duo are to host their own music and comedy festival in Kent this summer and have announced the electro legend and the Mancunian indie kings as the first acts confirmed for the bill.
The Mighty Boosh Festival takes place at Hop Farm in Tonbridge on July 5th and as well as the Charlatans, White Denim and Polar Bear, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt will take to the stage their characters Vince Noir and Howard Moon to perform some of their own musical numbers alongside shaman Naboo - played by Fielding's brother Michael - and friendly ape Bollo (choreographer Dave Brown).
However, Fielding told NME.com he was most excited about the booking of Numan who has been frequently referenced in the show, as well as making a brief appearance in series three.
"Having Gary on board is mental!" he said. "He is a hero of mine and was always a first choice, having him perform at our festival is almost surreal."
He added: "We've never played a music festival before and a comic has never headlined a festival before, so we are seizing the opportunity and doing both."
The festival is being hosted by Mean Fiddler impresarios Vince Power and Phil McIntyre, who explained last month that they had taken a risk in organising the 30,000-capacity event.
"We thought long and hard about putting on a comedy festival and convinced The Mighty Boosh that they were the right choice for the first major open-air comedy festival of its kind," a statement explained.
Other acts rumoured for the event include Har Mar Superstar, Peaches and Kasabian.
