Gary Barlow Injured Ahead Of Kilimanjaro Climb

by | 21 February 2009

Take That singer Gary Barlow has injured his back ahead of his Kilimanjaro climb for Comic Relief.

A statement on the band's website said a "hectic training schedule" both for the climb and promoting Take That's new single Up All Night took its toll and Barlow is suffering from muscle spasms.

"Gary saw an eminent specialist this morning together with Professor Greg Whyte who is the trainer for the BT Red Nose Climb and has been treated appropriately for this minor injury.

"There is no cause for concern as long as Gary continues to respond well to treatment and rests from now until he departs for the climb," according to the website.

Barlow is scaling the African peak with a team of celebrities to raise money for Comic Relief, including Cheryl Cole, Ronan Keating Denise Van Outen and Chris Moyles.

The team is due to begin the climb next Friday.
