Gangnam Style Death: Father of Three Dies While Dancing The Popular Dance
The first instance of a Gangnam Style death has occurred, and while the dance did not explicitly cause Eamonn Kilbride's death, the physical excursion from what is a demanding set of moves did.
We at Contact Music are paying our respects to Kilbride, 46, and his family: his wife Julie and children, Laurajade, 22, Jack, 21, and Conor, 18, who are all at university. Mrs Kilbride paid tribute to her "loving husband" of 23 years, calling him "the life of the party." Unfortunately for Mr Kilbride, his health problems, which came to a head while he was dancing Psy's Gangnam style, have rendered his death intrinsically to the Korean rapper. Professor Bernard Keavney, a consultant cardiologist at Newcastle University, has warned older men not to "stray outside your comfort zone" while dancing at their Christmas parties this year. "The chance that you'll come to grief is very small. But as with any form of untypical exercise ... be somewhat measured. Let the lady dance around you," he told The Daily Telegraph.
Mrs Kilbride said the following of her late husband and father to her children: "He was a great family man and he worked so hard. Eamonn was always the life of the party and loved dancing. We were having a fantastic time at the Christmas party and Eamonn had just finished dancing to Gangnam Style. He was up on stage and entertaining everybody. He said he had a bit of a pain and just collapsed. He loved me dearly and would tell people all the time. I know he thought the world of us."
