San Francisco, California soul man Darondo has died after a year-long health battle.
The cult funk singer, real name William Daron Pulliam, was best known for the song Didn't I.
The cause of the 67 year old's death and exact date of his passing had not been released as Wenn went to press.
Darondo began making music in the 1960s and released the critically-acclaimed 1970s album Let My People Go, which featured Didn't I. The tune became a hit again in 2011 when it featured on the soundtrack to an episode of Tv series Breaking Bad.
The singer was billed to perform at last year's (12) Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee, but pulled out at the last minute due to health issues.
The album is the first in history to chart without selling a single copy.
Earlier this month a twitter campaign asking Disney to make Elsa their first LGBT princess in the ‘Frozen’ sequel went viral.
