Freddie Mercury - Freddie Mercury Joining Queen For 'We Will Rock You' Anniversary?
Brian May has announced new plans to continue to pay tribute to late friend Freddie Mercury by getting him to "appear" for the 10th anniversary of the Queen inspired 'We Will Rock You' musical. With plenty of attention on bringing back the dead in hologram form, in the wake of Tupac Shakur's surprise appearance at Coachella, the odds were always short on May having a go at getting his old mucka back.
True to form he's been working on it, though May says it won't be the same technology that DR. Dre and Snoop Dogg used, telling the Bbc that it will be "an optical illusion of sorts. People will come out saying, 'did we actually see Freddie?' he added.
May is aware though that he's been beaten to the punch somewhat, and commented "It's a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while. [That technique] is something we've looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it's not really quite practical." However they sort it, one of those who'll be in attendance to see will be actor Robert De Niro - also one of the producers on the play - with May saying "There is a certain person who's coming that's intimately associated with getting the production on in the first place - our friend Bob from Los Angeles. We call him Bob so we don't get too overcome with his stardom." Wonder what John Deacon's up to?
