Fred Butler feels ''honoured'' to be part of adidas' 'miadidas Customisers' project.
The London-based props and accessories designer Fred Butler has teamed up with the sports brand to work on the real-time art project, which unites the most passionate artists, athletes and fans from around the world to produce unique customised shoes that will embody the London 2012 Olympic Games.
She said: ''I feel honoured and proud to be part of this event. I wanted to present a practical and functional design, as well as stylish. My intention was to create a pair of trainers that can be used for both sport and decorative purposes''
''It was not that difficult to undertake this challenge, because the initial pattern made by Stella McCartney matched perfectly with my conception of geometric and textures.''
Every day of London 2012, live at the adidas Olympic Lounge, two artists from a carefully hand-picked shortlist of nine will customise the Performance footwear of select Olympic athletes, inspired by the day's winning 'all in' moment.
Thomas van Schaik, Global Brand Director of adidas, added: ''London is a creative city with some excellent emerging artists who can help put their unique spin on our adidas footwear. The real-time element allows everyone to get involved by defining the key moments from this Olympic Games and seeing them captured immediately on an historic item that they can then have the chance to win.''
