Franklin Hit With Tax Demand

Aretha Franklin has agreed to settle a debt with tax officials after she was accused of owing more than $11,000 (£7,300) in back payments.

Michigan authorities filed a lien against the Respect hitmaker in March (10), demanding $11,076 (£7,384) in income taxes, and a further $33,729 (£22,500) in 2009 property taxes on her $1.8 million (£1.2 million) home.

The singer has promised to settle her debts, telling the Detroit News it "becomes a little difficult" to keep up with her finances while she's touring.
