Fox Chief: Lea Michele's New Glee Scenes Provide 'Fresh Energy'
Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke to television critics in Los Angeles on Monday (July 23, 2012) about the network's forthcoming offerings. Fox is entering a huge period, after saying goodbye to ratings banker 'House' and stepping into the unknown.
One show that Mr Reilly is relying on is 'Glee', which he says will move on "seamlessly" despite half of its cast having 'graduated'. Some of its biggest stars will leave MCKinley High (with Lea Michele heading to New York), though Reilly says the new scenes in the Big Apple will lend "fresh energy" to the show. However, he warned that the new season won't try to follow "that large a tapestry of characters" all over the country, suggesting that some of the favourites of last season will move to drop-in roles. Elsewhere, the Fox boss said that he's happy with 'Fringe', which has recorded marginal ratings while developing a cult following, and thinks the new comic-bloc on Tuesdays (New Girl, Ben and Kate, Raising Hope) is the future of Fox's programming. Though the network was essentially snubbed at the Emmys this year, Mr Reilly said it was a distinct possibility that one of its shows will receive a nomination for Best Drama at next year's event - hinting that Kiefer Sutherland's 'Touch' could well be that show.
The fourth season of 'Glee' will premiere on Fox on September 14, 2012, once again featuring the likes of Matthew Morrison and JANE LYNCH.
