Former Managers Pay Tribute To Pink Floyd Genius

Pink Floyd's former managers have paid tribute to late frontman SYD BARRETT, insisting the band would never have succeeded without him.
PETER JENNER and ANDREW KING describe Barrett - who died on 7 July (06) - as "the glue that held the band together" and the only true musical genius in Pink Floyd.
Founder member Barrett was only in the band for three years from 1965 to 1968, before an LSD-induced breakdown forced him to quit.
In that time he wrote a vast body of work, many of the band's early hits and helped Pink Floyd become a musical phenomenon.
Jenner and King write in Music Week magazine, "His genius was the glue which held together the various personalities who made up Pink Floyd.
"We were completely incompetent managers, Roger (WATERS) was a bass player with a deliberate but limited technique, NICK (MASON) a drummer of character rather than brilliance and only Rick (WRIGHT) had any serious musical knowledge,
"Syd was a guitarist, singer and songwriter with no fear and a childlike inventiveness, who provided the songs and the musical boldness which permitted the rest of us to achieve what I doubt any of us would have done without him."
