Kraftwerk - Former Kraftwerk Star Baffled By Concert Snub

Former Kraftwerk star Karl Bartos felt snubbed when he wasn't asked to take part in the band's retrospective gigs in New York last year (12).

The musician, who was part of the German band from 1975 to 1990, didn't receive an invitation when the electronic music pioneers performed every one of their albums in a series of concerts at the Big Apple's Museum of Modern Art (Moma) in April (12).

Bartos reveals he was thoroughly baffled by the snub, but is glad his contribution to Kraftwerk was heard in the music they played.

He tells Britain's Uncut magazine, "I wish I had been invited to Kraftwerk's retrospective at Moma in New York, but I wasn't, nor were (other former band members) Florian (Schneider) or Wolfgang (Flur)... I'm quite puzzled by them using the term retrospective, but at least I'm there acoustically if they play (songs) The Model or The Robots."

Kraftwerk will perform a similar stunt in London this year (13) with an eight-night residency at the Tate Modern gallery's Turbine Hall in February (13).

The Tour de France hitmakers will kick off the 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 series by playing their first album Autobahn on 6 February (13).
