Embattled American football star Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body near his Massachusetts home.
The sportsman was arrested by police on Wednesday morning (26Jun13), 10 days after Odin Lloyd was found shot dead in North Attleborough.
Prosecutors claim a fight between the two former pals at a Boston nightclub on 14 June (13) sparked the alleged killing three days later, when Hernandez was reportedly caught on surveillance cameras leaving his house with a weapon.
As well as the murder charge, Hernandez stands accused of unlawful possession of firearms, and he is being held in police custody without bail.
His legal troubles prompted bosses at the New England Patriots to drop him from the team less than two hours after his arrest.
A statement released by the Patriots reads: "A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation... At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."
Hernandez was drafted by the Patriots in 2010.
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
