Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters Awarded As The Grammys Start To Sparkle
The 54th Grammy Awards are well under way at the Staples Centre and the main section of tonight's ceremony is taking place, with Foo Fighters taking home another of the major awards being given out and the anticipated live performances building to the anticipated turns from Adele and Jennifer Hudson.
Foo Fighters accepted the award for Best Rock Performance for their song 'Walk.' Taking to the stage wearing a Slayer t-shirt, Dave Grohl took the time to thank the band's producer, BUTCH VIG, saying "we couldn't have done it without the best producer in the world." Grohl and Vig originally worked together on Nirvana's seminal album Nevermind. Dave Grohl also said that winning the award meant a lot to the band, because it recognised that "the human element of making music is what's important." He was referring to the low-key manner in which their album, Wasting Light was recorded (in a garage) and added "it's not about sounding perfect." They added their award to the four that they have already won this evening.
So far, the evening's performers have included Rihanna and Coldplay, whose performance drew a mixed reaction from Twitter users. @CallumJRD posted a message that read "Beyonce's screams during labour were more in key than Rihanna's Grammy performance," referring to several off-key moments that the singer had during her duet with Chris Martin of Coldplay. Beach Boys also performed 'Good Vibrations' to rapturous applause, preceded by a 'Beach Boys intro' performed by Maroon 5 and Foster The People. Stevie Wonder introduced the former Beatle Paul Mccartney, who performed a track from his latest album Kisses on the Bottom.
