Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters And Neil Young To Headline New York Charity Show
The Foo Fighters and Neil Young will headline a huge charity show in New York City next month (Sep12) to combat world poverty.
Dave Grohl's band will perform in Manhattan's Central Park as part of the Global Festival 2012 alongside Neil Young & Crazy Horse and The Black Keys.
The gig will be held on 29 September (12) to coincide with the gathering of the United Nations General Assembly, but fans won't be able to buy tickets - they will instead have to earn a place at the concert by completing charitable acts.
A special lottery of 54,000 free tickets has been set up through the Global Festival website and fans can win a place by earning points through activities including donating money to charity, signing petitions and raising awareness through social media.
The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney says, "The scale of things that they're trying do just felt really cool, and we're trying to get the ball rolling. Especially with everything that's been going on for the last three years, I suppose, after the stock market crashed. There's attention on the amount of people living below the poverty line and the disparity between the rich and the poor and everything that's going on now... It just felt like the right time to do something."
