Fonda Finds Contract Loophole And Hits The Open Road
While co-star Nicolas Cage was forbidden to fuel his passion for biking away from the set of the film, in which he plays a biker who trades his soul with the devil, the Easy Rider star found a way of hitting the open road at high speeds.
He explains, "They wouldn't let Nic ride, but they were in such a rush to make a deal with me they forgot to put it in my contract that I couldn't ride motorcycles.
"So I went out in Melbourne and I bought the fastest motorcycle built - the MV Augusta - and rode it right to the set. It helped me establish myself quite early: `Don't screw with me!'"
