Jared Followill - Flu-hit Jared Followill Vows To Keep Touring
Kings Of Leon rocker Jared Followill has promised fans he will be onstage for their hotly-anticipated shows in London's Hyde Park this week (beg20Jun11) despite suffering a severe bout of influenza.
The rocker awoke in his hotel in the British capital on Tuesday (21Jun11) feeling ill, and within hours a doctor had confirmed the bass player is suffering from the viral infection.
The setback has threatened to derail the Sex on Fire hitmakers' two headline concerts at Hyde Park on Wednesday (22Jun11) and Thursday (23Jun11) - but Followill has vowed to perform through the illness, reminding fans he once hit the road while suffering from glandular fever.
And he even laughed off his predicament, referring to the famous incident last year (10) when the group abandoned a concert in St. Louis, Missouri after Jared became a target for pooping pigeons.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com on Tuesday (21Jun11), he writes, "Man flu. Can't sleep. Ok. I legitimately have the flu... No worries though. I'll still be onstage tomorrow. May not be as active, but onstage. I don't miss shows. Never have. I toured with mono (glandular fever).
"The only thing that's ever made me not play was a mighty mighty pigeon. I was cultured negative for bacterial infection and blood work shows viral infection. High antibodies. Blood can tell you."
And the rocker's bandmate and brother, Nathan Followill, showed his support by 'tweeting', "Drink plenty of fluids, rest up & make Matt do all of your press. The stage is a healer, you'll be fine 2morrow (tomorrow) little bro."
