Flowered Up Singer Maher Dies

FLOWERED UP frontman LIAM MAHER has died.

The star fronted the cult British band throughout the 1990s and was best known for their hit single Weekender.

The group split in 1994, with Maher subsequently attempting to carve out his own solo career, and keyboard player Tim Dorney going on to form Republica.

The band recently reformed for a series of gigs, which were due to kick off on Sunday night (25Oct09) in Brighton, England.

Details of Maher's death had yet to be released as WENN went to press.

The band's record label, Heavenly Recordings, confirmed the sad news in a post on the company's Facebook.com page.

The post reads, "The news has just reached us that Liam Maher singer from Flowered Up has passed away. Details at the moment are sketchy but (we) will post when we know more."
