Florence and the Machine has warned people may "explode" during her MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) performance.

Singer Florence Welch is planning to recreate the video for song 'Dog Days Are Over' at Sunday's (12.09.10) awards - which culminates with some of the video's stars blowing up.

She explained: "What we're trying to do is kind of encapsulate the video into a live performance. "Basically, the whole thing is just me arranging flowers, and then a load of people around me spontaneous combust, and that it's it. It's going to be great.

"It's sort of energy and chaos. There's people, like, actually physically exploding in the video, and hopefully that won't happen.

"If everyone's really into it, that's fine with me, but we haven't planned it."

The British 'You've Got The Love' singer - who is nominated for four awards at Sunday night's (12.09.10) ceremony - also explained what The Machine part of her title represents to her.

She added to MTV: "The machine for the actual show is something kind of different - the machine is never supposed to be my band. It's kind of everything and nothing."

The MTV VMAs takes place on Sunday night in at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.
