Florence And The Machine - Florence And The Machine To Perform At Nme Awards But 'Ceremonials' Is Snubbed

Florence And The Machine (aka Florence Welch) has been announced as one of the live performers at this year's Nme Awards shows. And, whilst the Best British Band category is dominated by men, Florence faces competition from fellow females in the Best Solo Artist category. Last year's winner Laura Marling is also nominated in the category, as is Adele, whose album 21 proved to be a massive global success. They face competition from some of the year's most popular male artists, too, in the shape of Noel Gallagher, Frank Turner and Miles Kane.
The flame-haired singer is also nominated in the Hottest Female award but despite being a constant favourite of the music magazine, her 2011 album Ceremonials is surprisingly absent from any of the lists. The show's other live performers, The Horrors, also have two nominations, starting with their Best British Band acknowledgement, with their album Skying having also been nominated in the Best Album category. Many of the awards categories are decided by public vote, as advertised on the magazine's website, Nme.com. The Godlike Genius Award has already been decided on, with the former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher chosen as the recipient of that award - following in the footsteps of Paul Weller and Dave Grohl to land the title in recognition of his work.
At the end of 2011, Nme published their annual 'Cool List' and the poll-topper Azealia Banks has been nominated in the Dancefloor anthem category, for her underground hit '212.' Azealia will be hitting the road for the Nme Awards shows in February, where fans will be eager to see if her other tracks live up to the hype of '212.'
