Florence And The Machine Set For Mtv Unplugged

Florence and the Machine have been announced as the first act to feature in a new series of MTV's legendary Unplugged concerts. These renowned concerts feature big-name acts playing stripped-down sets in an intimate setting, largely acoustic. Previous bands to have recorded the sessions include Nirvana, Hole, Eric Clapton and Jay Z.

Mtv started their Unplugged sessions in 1989 and according to Reuters, this latest instalment, from Florence And The Machine, will be released on April 8, 2012. The session was recorded in New York's oldest synagogue, back in December 2011 and features Florence Welch, backed by a 10-piece choir, called The Voices of Rivers. The set includes versions of 'Dog Days are Over' as well as her latest single 'Never Let Me Go.' She is joined by Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, who duets with her on a version of Johnny Cash and Jue Carter's 'Jackson.' The recording of the session was attended by Kanye West and the rapper Q Tip, amongst others. Florence was reportedly overwhelmed by the opportunity to perform at the unique session, saying "I had to stop myself after every song. I would be like, 'Wow.' It was so amazing performing the songs stripped back and just really being able to concentrate on the songs and the emotions."

Other acts slated to be taking part in the forthcoming Unplugged session include Grammy award winners the Civil Wars, though they joked that they would not be too stretched to work out an unplugged set for the occasion. "We're already unplugged!" admitted Joy Williams. DIERKS BENTLEY is another artist expected to be included in the sessions.
