Flea Slams Hendrix Drinks Range
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist FLEA has slammed a soon-to-be-released range of drinks named after late legend JIMI HENDRIX as "disappointing".
Beverage Concepts will unveil its non-alcoholic Liquid Experience drinks in the US in April (07). The range is named after Hendrix's album ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?.
But Flea - real name MICHAEL BALZARY - is one of many fans who think the move is exploiting the Hendrix name.
He says, "To see his image and the beautiful feelings it has created during my lifetime cheapened by base advertising is very disappointing to me."
Another drink inspired by the guitarist, Hendrix Electric Vodka, a 100 per cent grain vodka hand crafted in Idaho, was recently launched.
Hendrix died of a drugs overdose in London in 1970.
