Flavor Flav - Flavor Flav To Stand Trial Over Felony Charges In September
Rap veteran Flavor Flav has been ordered to stand trial in September (13) over an alleged attack on his girlfriend's teenage son last year (12).
The Public Enemy icon, real name William Drayton, is accused of threatening the unnamed 17 year old with a butcher's knife during a family argument in October (12), reportedly chasing him into a bedroom and stabbing the blade through the door.
The hip-hop star's attorney, Tony Abbatangelo, previously claimed his client may have been acting in self-defence when he allegedly grabbed the knife during the scuffle, although he planned to plead guilty.
However, Flav appeared in court in Las Vegas on Tuesday (07May13) and insisted he was not guilty of felony assault with a weapon and child endangerment.
The legal case is due to go to trial at Clark County District Court on 30 September (13).
If convicted, the 54 year old faces up to 12 years behind bars.
Tuesday's arraignment hearing was originally scheduled for 18 April (13), but Abbatangelo won a postponement to allow his client to attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame gala in Los Angeles on the same day, when his band was among the class of 2013.
