Tv - Flavor Flav's Lawyer Fights To Postpone Assault Hearing So Rapper Can Attend Hall Of Fame Gala
Rapper and reality Tv star Flavor Flav's lawyer is attempting to postpone his client's arraignment hearing following an alleged attack on his girlfriend's teenage son last year (12) - because it falls on the same day as the Public Enemy star's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The hip-hop icon, real name William Drayton, is facing a trial on felony charges that he threatened the unnamed 17 year old with a butcher's knife during a family argument in October (12).
During an evidence hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday (10Apr13), Flav's accuser identified the rapper as the man who chased him into a bedroom and stabbed the knife through the door.
The rapper's attorney, Tony Abbatangelo, told the court his client may have been acting in self-defence when he allegedly grabbed the knife during the scuffle, but revealed Drayton plans to plead guilty.
Justice of the Peace Melanie Andress-Tobiasson declared the evidence presented was enough to take the case to trial, and she set the arraignment hearing for 18 April (13).
Abbatangelo is seeking to postpone the hearing because his client will be out of town with his Public Enemy bandmates for the Hall of Fame gala.
The rapper faces felony charges of assault with a weapon and child endangerment that could land him behind bars for 12 years.
