Fitzgerald Honoured With Special Stamp
Fitzgerald appears on a 39 cent stamp, which is to be unveiled at a ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City later today.
Fitzgerald, who died in 1996, became famous as a "scat" singer and performed with most of the great musicians of the time.
She recorded the song books of such composers as Cole Porter, IRVING BERLIN, DUKE ELLINGTON and GEORGE and IRA GERSHWIN.
The stamp will be the 30th in the agency's Black Heritage series.
