The manager of British singing group Fisherman's Friends has been killed in a freak accident at a gig venue.
Paul MCMullen sustained severe injuries in an accident involving a metal door at the G Live venue in Guildford, England just hours before his group was due to perform there on Saturday (09Feb13).
One of the bandmembers, Trevor Grills, was also caught up in the incident and remains in hospital with serious injuries.
The Saturday night gig was cancelled following the tragedy.
Darcus Beese, president of the group's Island Records label, says, "Everyone here is shocked by this tragic event, our hopes and prayers go out to the friends and families of those involved."
A statement from venue bosses at G Live adds, "This is a terribly sad day and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this incredibly difficult time."
Police are investigating the incident.
