Johnny Depp - First Look: Johnny Depp As Tonto In The Lone Ranger

The picture shows the two actors in full costume and makeup, set against a blue but cloudy sky. Johnny Depp, as Tonto, is sporting an elaborate headdress with what looks like a stuffed crow resting on his head. Feathers hang from his headband and his face is painted chalk-white, with black vertical lines. The new version of the classic Western story is being directed by Gore Verbinski - the man behind Rango and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and, according to Entertainment Weekly, will be looking to make the Lone Ranger's sidekick Tonto into a more prominent character. Armie Hammer, who played the dual role of Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in 2010's The Social Network, is pictured looking dapper as The Lone Ranger, in a large white Stetson, black eye mask and red neckerchief.
